ARGOVIA | WORK IN PROGRESS

Finca Argovia is a coffee plantation in the Soconusco region bordering Guatemala. The estate was erected in the late 1800's as a result of a collaboration between Mexican president Porfirio Díaz and German chancellor Otto von Bismarck, aiming to take advantage of southern Mexico's agricultural potential. As a result, 450 German families were sent to the Soconusco and built one of the most successful German colonies. Argovia is currently owned by German descendants, producing one of the finest coffee in Latin America, harvesting plants and flowers, and operating a jungle lodge that receives travelers from all over the world. Twenty-five years ago the estate started a regeneration project that has let the jungle grow on former deforested and eroded lands, bringing wildlife and equilibrium back to 1800's shape. Argovia invited RDCH STUDIO to rebrand their isolated hotel and transform it into an authentic hidden-gem destination. Argovia is a place for escaping and immersing in nature, experiencing a sustainable way of living just as Argovia has regenerated itself over time.
